Prispevek Caroline Molloy temelji na njeni doktorski disertaciji, ki obravnava vizualni habitus transkulturne fotografije. V njem se avtorica osredotoča na žanr studijske fotografije, zlasti na zgodnjo angleško studijsko fotografijo, in pri tem zagovarja tezo, da je dediščina konceptualnega okvira, ki je bil vzpostavljan v zgodnjem obdobju fotografskih studiev, še vedno navzoča v praksah sodobne studijske digitalne fotografije. Pri pojasnjevanju svoje teze se opira na sodobno študijo primera, opravljeno v njenem lokalnem digitalnem fotografskem studiu v severnem Londonu, ter obravnava izbrane fotografije v primerjavi z zgodnjimi praksami fotografskih studiev. Zagovarja tezo, da digitalna fotografija ne predstavlja radikalnega preloma s preteklostjo, ki so ga povzročile digitalne tehnologije, temveč odpira možnosti za nove izvirne načine ustvarjanja studijskih portretov, ki brišejo meje med resničnim in simbolnim.

Caroline Molloy je študentka doktorskega študija umetnosti in humanistike na Raziskovalnem centru za zgodovino in teorijo fotografije londonske univerze Birkbeck. Poleg tega je višja predavateljica smeri Fotografija na univerzi v Coventryju. Magistrirala je iz fotografije na Kraljevi akademiji za umetnost in iz vizualne antropologije na fakulteti Goldsmiths, izobraževala pa se je tudi na področju ustne zgodovine v okviru Britanske knjižnice. Na temo fotografije redno piše prispevke za revijo Photomonitor in za mrežo sodobnih vizualnih umetnosti New Art West Midlands. O svojih raziskavah je napisala številne prispevke za domače in mednarodne konference, med drugim v Nikoziji (Ciper) in Lizboni (Portugalska). Njena dela so bila razstavljena na razstavi Family of No-Man v okviru fotografskega festivala v Arlesu (2018), na festivalu Jaipur Photo in na razstavi Doh Mix Me Up v okviru dogodka Leverhulme Arts na Univerzi v Oxfordu.
